The Origin
A practice built on a conviction
Growing up along the Garden Route, Curtis Fleur was surrounded by architecture that prioritised practicality over beauty — functional homes that forgot to ask how their owners actually wanted to live. That experience became the founding conviction of CF Architects: that the spaces we inhabit should do more than shelter us. They should elevate us.
"I wanted to encourage homeowners to think beyond conventional layouts — to envision their ideal living environment from the ground up, one that balances beauty, functionality, and a deep connection to its surroundings."
CF Architects was established in 2016 in the Eastern Cape before relocating to Bryanston, Gauteng in 2021. Since 2024, the practice has been in deliberate repositioning toward high-end, principal-led residential design — fewer projects, deeper engagement, higher standard of outcome.
What guides every decision

We take fewer projects so we can go deeper on each one. The boutique constraint is a deliberate choice — not a limitation. It is what makes the difference between a house that is built and a home that is genuinely designed for the long term.

Curtis leads every project from first sketch to final handover. There are no junior proxies, no mid-project handoffs. You engage the principal, you work with the principal. That is the CF Architects model and it is non-negotiable.

The Team
Small by design. Deep by intention.
CF Architects is structured to deliver at the highest level while remaining small enough to care deeply about every project. We are a team of four, managing a maximum of eight concurrent projects at any one time. That constraint is what makes the quality possible.
Curtis Fleur
Studio Principal · SACAP Registered
Principal architect and founder. Curtis leads every client relationship, every design, and every site personally. With roots in the Garden Route and a decade of practice across South Africa, his approach is deliberate, considered, and deeply client-focused.
Ashley
Second Principal · Co-Director
Co-director and second principal, Ashley brings a complementary design perspective and is transitioning into an increasingly active project leadership role. Her involvement ensures CF Architects can maintain principal-level oversight across all active commissions.
Luzaan
Senior Architectural Technologist
With ten years of experience, Luzaan leads the production and documentation of every project. Her precision and technical depth are what translate design intent into drawings that can actually be built — on time and to specification.
Ehsaan
Candidate Senior Architectural Technologist
A candidate architectural technologist developing across all stages of the design and documentation process under senior mentorship. Ehsaan brings precision and energy to the production of every project the studio undertakes.
